7:12 PM called to order
I. Prayer & Reflection: Last Words of Christ: “You will be with me in Paradise”, “Father, Forgive them for they know not what they do.” “Woman, Behold your Son, Son, Behold your Mother!” “I thirst”. “My God, My God, has abandoned me!” “It is finished!” Which one speaks to your heart this Lent? We split into three groups to answer and share reflections on quote that spoke most to each of our hearts and returned as a whole group and Fr. Rosy led us in prayer.
II. Guest Ministries: Chris introduced Rosemary Westcott to speak about the Funeral Luncheon ministry. Thank you, Rosemary, for your service in this ministry.
Chris then introduced Ted and Sharon Heideman and Gerri Orbin to speak about Room at the Inn. Thank you all for your commitment and dedication to this ministry.
Chris advised all that this was our 16th ministry we have heard from. . .awesome!
II. Minutes: March minutes approved as written.
IV. Discussion: How to approach resolution with conflict over space use that involves activities or events that cross over each other’s timeline? Discussed DRAFT Policy on the Scheduling of Parish Facilities for Meetings/Events/Sports Activities document distributed by Deacon Al that we and parish staff developed. All approved document. Policies and procedures should be on BTC letterhead.
V. Fundraising Policies/Operating Procedures: Deacon Al presented and all discussed briefly the DRAFT Policy on Fundraising & Development. It was decided that we take home and review and we will revisit in May for more in-depth discussion.
VI. Update from one-site Discernment Team: Deacon Al reported that the team has three more meetings scheduled and will wrap up in May. Prayers and preparation time has been very important to be able to come to the recommendation.
VII. School News: Registration/Marketing. Registered to date: K thru 8th = 171, Pre-K = 27. Contracts have been sent to all faculty and staff and need to return by the end of April. There will be a 2nd full-time Pre-K teacher hired, as well as a part-time Spanish and part-time Music teacher. Looking for parishioners who are interested who could volunteer with after school clubs in the Federation. Confirmation for the 8th graders was this past Wednesday, April 6th. The Eucharistic Retreat is Tuesday, April 19th. At least 100 students along with Mrs. Stutsman and Ms. Carlson and additional teachers, including Mrs. Heiligenstein, will participate in the Ferguson 5K on Saturday, May 14th. 4th thru 8th will be in the 5K and Pre-K thru 3rd will do the Fun Run. Tuesdays and Fridays are run training days. The kids are really enjoying this opportunity. There will be special t-shirts for all the kids, in addition to the shirt from Ferguson.
VIII. Pastor’s Update:
· Alive in Christ kickoff was 3 weeks ago, end of March.
· BTC highlighted Channels 2 & 5
· Evangelization approach in Fall – K, 2nd & 5th grade Parents must attend three (3) hour session. Purpose of session is to reach out to practicing Catholics and those non-practicing and non-Catholics to help parents understand the basics of our Catholic faith and how our approach to Catholic education flows from this. Enclosed sheet distributed explains sessions in more detail. Invitations to all mid-August and will follow-up with a reply card.
· Fr. Tom Santen agreed to facilitate our process on one-site decision. Four (4) meetings are scheduled. We will get there!
· Al Winseman is coming for presentations: May 2nd at 7PM for Parish at large and May 3rd at 9PM – 3PM Leadership workshop. 484 surveys were returned.
